Summary

A fact-filled conversation starter on menopause by comedian and health campaigner Jean Kittson。

When Jean Kittson hit menopause, she was amazed at what she didn't know。 Given that 1。5 million Australian women are menopausal at any one time, why, she wondered, was menopause so little discussed and then only in hushed tones?

So Jean set out to write the sort of book she felt she needed to read: 'An easy-to-read book full of useful information that didn't make you want to put on an old chenille dressing-gown and a pair of comfortable slippers and throw yourself under a marching band。'

You're Still Hot to Me is a chatty - sometimes robust - conversation between women and with some of Australia's top experts。 Discover how to recognise symptoms (would you like hot flushes with that chocolate?), get the medical attention you deserve, and the lowdown on which treatments really work。 You will learn about combining menopause with work, sex and parenting, and how to emerge at the other end still talking to those you love。

Candid and frequently hilarious, this is your starter kit on how to cheerfully embrace and confidently manage this momentous time of life。

"It's just fabulous!!! Informative, accurate (a nice change from lots of stuff written about menopause), funny and just so accessible。 I love it and finally have the definitive book to recommend to my patients。" - Dr Penny Adams, GP and advocate for women's health。

Factual, humorous and necessary if you're after a frank and honest picture painted on peri-menopause, menopause and generally all things related。 Factual, humorous and necessary if you're after a frank and honest picture painted on peri-menopause, menopause and generally all things related。 。。。more

If you are over 40, regardless of gender, you should read this book!Kittson was interviewed on Radio New Zealand National, and after hearing her I got her book。 It is an easy, informative and very funny book, about 。。。。menopause。 Don't discard this review yet, keep reading。When Kittson started looking into menopause, there was little information available and it was either totally frivolous or so convoluted, it meant nothing。 She also found not many women or men were talking about this period (o If you are over 40, regardless of gender, you should read this book!Kittson was interviewed on Radio New Zealand National, and after hearing her I got her book。 It is an easy, informative and very funny book, about 。。。。menopause。 Don't discard this review yet, keep reading。When Kittson started looking into menopause, there was little information available and it was either totally frivolous or so convoluted, it meant nothing。 She also found not many women or men were talking about this period (or lack thereof) in a woman's life。This is NOT a 'poor me' book, it is a candid look at what women go through at a time in their lives when they are busy, effective and are integral to the lives of their families and work places。 From one day to the next, they have physical and psychological symptoms which destabilise and impede their performance in many areas。 So, let's get informed。Read this for yourself and your partner, for all the women in your life。 They are NOT going insane, their hormones are changing, they are going to be ok, eventually。 Be the support crew, drink a glass of wine together and eat more chocolate。。。。Read this book! 。。。more

Going through peri menopause myself at the moment you'd think I'd appreciate the book more than。 I found the first part mainly stating facts and figures, obviously sad but true but I thought Jean was trying too hard to make it funny。 The second part was genuinely funny with stories of actual events。 She didn't have to try to be funny they were funny。 I guess that is the hard part about being a comedian everybody expects you to be funny no matter what you are talking about。 It was a handy tool to Going through peri menopause myself at the moment you'd think I'd appreciate the book more than。 I found the first part mainly stating facts and figures, obviously sad but true but I thought Jean was trying too hard to make it funny。 The second part was genuinely funny with stories of actual events。 She didn't have to try to be funny they were funny。 I guess that is the hard part about being a comedian everybody expects you to be funny no matter what you are talking about。 It was a handy tool to inform my husband of the way things are and can be in the future。 I was reading out aloud to him the reasons why not to divorce a woman going through menopause - I thought it hilarious, he remained mute!!! say no more。 。。。more

Following on from Jean Kittson's mantra of being out and proud and removing the taboo of discussing menopause, I am doing a public review of this book。At first glance, I thought "written by Kittson, this is going to be fun"。 And it was。 For the first few pages。 But then the humour started getting old and I felt like I was reading non-fiction book written in Chick Lit style。 Enough with the volatile woman jokes already! That being said, the book appears to be well researched。 It's informative and Following on from Jean Kittson's mantra of being out and proud and removing the taboo of discussing menopause, I am doing a public review of this book。At first glance, I thought "written by Kittson, this is going to be fun"。 And it was。 For the first few pages。 But then the humour started getting old and I felt like I was reading non-fiction book written in Chick Lit style。 Enough with the volatile woman jokes already! That being said, the book appears to be well researched。 It's informative and easy to relate to。 Five stars for info and three for writing style 。。。more
